The design is based on the Dutch implementation.

This is Cykelslangen in Copenhagen. It’s a pretty nice piece of infrastructure, connecting a bike/pedestrian bridge across the harbour to another bridge going to the Vesterbro neighbourhood. The Cykelslangen bridge bypasses a nice area by the water which bikes had to cross through before the bridge.

A Case Study in Bike-Friendly Suburban Planning

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-06-17/the-dutch-town-of-houten-is-a-case-study-in-bike-friendly-suburban-planning

Who said that it’s not possible with living with a car in a suburb? Houten, Netherlands proved that it can be done. They have ring roads where it goes around the suburb and have a high speed limit. But the city is divided in a way that cars can’t cross into another part of the city. They have to go out back onto the ring road. Bikes are able to cross just fine.

However, bicycles can go through to all subdistricts directly which make them faster than cars.
